By creating an account, accessing, or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Services.

1.2 Eligibility
To use ShukrApp, you must:

- Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract
- Not be prohibited from using the Services under applicable laws
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
For Users Aged 13-17: While we do not require parental consent, we strongly encourage you to discuss your use of ShukrApp with a parent or guardian.
1.3 Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via:
- Email to your registered email address
- In-app notification
- Prominent notice on our website
Notice Period: Material changes will take effect 30 days after notification. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Services and may delete your account.

ShukrApp is a faith-based recovery platform designed to help Muslims overcome pornography addiction and harmful habits through:
- Expert content from licensed therapists and Islamic scholars
- Anonymous, gender-separated community support
- Habit tracking and recovery tools
- Structured courses and educational content
- Islamic reminders and spiritual guidance
Important Disclaimers
- Not a Substitute for Professional Care: ShukrApp is a self-help tool and community support platform. It is NOT a substitute for professional medical treatment, psychotherapy, or emergency services.
- No Doctor-Patient Relationship: Use of ShukrApp does not create a doctor-patient, therapist-client, or scholar-student relationship.
- Emergency Situations: If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or suicidal thoughts, immediately contact emergency services (911 in the US, 999 in the UK, or your local emergency number) or a crisis hotline.
3. Account Registration and Security
3.1 Account Creation
To access certain features, you must create an account by providing:
- A valid email address
- A username (pseudonyms are permitted and encouraged for privacy)
- A secure password
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to update it as necessary.
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your password
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach
We will never ask for your password via email or phone. If you receive such a request, it is fraudulent—do not respond and report it to security@shukrapp.com.
3.3 Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon deletion:
- Your personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days
- You will lose access to all content, progress tracking, and community features
- Subscription fees are non-refundable (see Section 5)
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms.
4. User Conduct and Community Guidelines
ShukrApp is built on principles of respect, compassion, and Islamic ethics. To maintain a safe and supportive environment, you agree to the following:
4.1 Prohibited Conduct
You may NOT:
Harmful Behavior:
- Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate other users
- Share explicit, pornographic, or sexually suggestive content
- Encourage self-harm, suicide, or dangerous behavior
- Engage in hate speech or discrimination based on religion, race, gender, or other protected characteristics
Privacy Violations:
- Attempt to discover the real identity of anonymous users
- Share others' personal information without consent ("doxxing")
- Screenshot or share private conversations without permission
Fraudulent or Illegal Activity:
- Impersonate others or create fake accounts
- Use the Services for any illegal purpose
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Engage in fraud, scams, or phishing
Technical Abuse:
- Attempt to hack, disrupt, or compromise the security of the Services
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools without authorization
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
- Interfere with other users' access to the Services
Commercial Misuse:
- Use the Services for unauthorized commercial purposes
- Advertise products or services without our written permission
- Solicit donations or financial support from other users
4.2 Gender-Separated Communities
ShukrApp provides separate support communities for men and women in accordance with Islamic principles of modesty and privacy.
- You must select your gender during registration
- You may only participate in the community designated for your gender
- Attempts to access or communicate with the opposite gender's community will result in account termination
4.3 Respectful Communication
When participating in community forums, you agree to:
- Treat all users with respect and compassion
- Avoid judgment, condemnation, or shaming language
- Respect others' privacy and confidentiality
- Follow moderator instructions
- Report violations of these guidelines
4.4 Enforcement
Violations of these guidelines may result in:
- Warning from moderators
- Temporary suspension of community access
- Permanent account termination
- Reporting to law enforcement (for illegal activity)
We reserve the right to remove content and terminate accounts at our sole discretion.
5. Subscriptions, Payments, and Refunds
5.1 Free and Paid Features
Free Features:
- Basic habit tracking
- Limited access to courses and content
- Community forum access
Premium Subscription:
- Full access to all courses and expert content
- Advanced tracking and analytics
- Priority support
- Ad-free experience
5.2 Subscription Terms
- Pricing: Current subscription prices are displayed in the app and on our website. Prices may vary by region and are subject to change with 30 days' notice.
- Billing Cycle: Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) until canceled.
- Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle unless you cancel before the renewal date.
Payment Methods: We accept payment via credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other methods displayed in the app.
5.3 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through:
- App settings (iOS: App Store subscriptions; Android: Google Play subscriptions)
- Website account dashboard
- Contacting support@shukrapp.com
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle. You will retain access to premium features until that date.
5.4 Refund Policy
General Policy: All subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by law or as described below.
Exceptions:
- Technical Issues: If you experience significant technical problems that prevent you from using the Services, contact us within 7 days for a potential refund
- Unauthorized Charges: If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 30 days
- Donor-Funded Access: If your subscription was provided through a donor or scholarship, refund policies may differ
How to Request a Refund: Email billing@shukrapp.com with your account email, transaction ID, and reason for the request. We will respond within 7 business days.
State-Specific Rights:
- California and Vermont residents have additional cancellation rights under state law
- EU residents have a 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases
5.5 Price Changes
We may change subscription prices at any time. For existing subscribers:
- You will receive 30 days' advance notice of price increases
- The new price will apply at your next renewal after the notice period
- You may cancel before the renewal date to avoid the price increase
5.6 Donor-Funded and Scholarship Access
Some users receive free or discounted access through donor funding or scholarships. If you receive such access:
- You must use it in accordance with these Terms
- Access may be revoked if you violate community guidelines
- Donor-funded access is non-transferable
6. Intellectual Property Rights
6.1 ShukrApp's Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of the Services, including but not limited to:
- Text, graphics, logos, images, and videos
- Software, code, and algorithms
- Course materials and educational content
- Trademarks and branding
are owned by ShukrApp, our licensors, or content providers and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
6.2 Limited License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- Access and use the Services for personal, non-commercial purposes
- Download and view content within the app for your personal recovery journey
You may NOT:
- Copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our content
- Use our content for commercial purposes
- Remove copyright or proprietary notices
- Frame or mirror any part of the Services
6.3 User-Generated Content
You retain ownership of content you create in ShukrApp (journal entries, forum posts, etc.). However, by posting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- Store, display, and transmit your content as necessary to provide the Services
- Use anonymized, aggregated content for research and improvement of Services
You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have the right to post the content
- Your content does not violate these Terms or any laws
- Your content does not infringe on others' intellectual property rights
6.4 Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Services, you grant us the right to use them without compensation or attribution.
7. Privacy and Data Protection
Your privacy is critically important to us. Our collection, use, and protection of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

8.2 No Guarantees of Results

- We do not guarantee that you will achieve specific recovery outcomes
- Individual results vary based on many factors beyond our control
- Recovery is a personal journey that requires commitment and may involve setbacks
8.3 Third-Party Content
ShukrApp may include content from licensed therapists, Islamic scholars, and other experts. While we carefully vet our contributors:
- We do not endorse or guarantee the accuracy of all third-party content
- Third-party opinions do not necessarily reflect ShukrApp's views
- You are responsible for evaluating the suitability of content for your situation
8.4 Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHUKRAPP PROVIDES THE SERVICES “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
- Warranties that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of content
8.5 Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHUKRAPP AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
Indirect Damages:
- Indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill
- Emotional distress or personal injury (except where prohibited by law)
Maximum Liability: Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the Services shall not exceed the greater of $100 USD or the amount you paid to ShukrApp in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Exceptions:
- Liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law
8.6 Basis of the Bargain
You acknowledge that these disclaimers and limitations of liability are fundamental elements of the agreement between you and ShukrApp, and that we would not provide the Services without these limitations.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ShukrApp and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use or misuse of the Services
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of another person or entity
- Your violation of any applicable laws or regulations
- Content you post or submit through the Services
We reserve the right to assume exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification, in which case you agree to cooperate with our defense.
10. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
10.1 Informal Resolution
Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at legal@shukrapp.com to attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will attempt to resolve the dispute within 60 days.
10.2 Binding Arbitration
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.
If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be resolved by binding arbitration rather than in court, except as provided below.
Arbitration Rules:
- Arbitration will be conducted by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules
- The arbitration will be held remotely via videoconference unless otherwise agreed
- The arbitrator's decision will be final and binding
- Judgment on the arbitration award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction
Exceptions to Arbitration:
- Small claims court actions (if the claim qualifies)
- Claims for injunctive or equitable relief to protect intellectual property
- Claims that cannot be arbitrated under applicable law
10.3 Class Action Waiver
YOU AND SHUKRAPP AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
Unless both you and ShukrApp agree otherwise, the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not preside over any form of representative or class proceeding.
10.4 Opt-Out
You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to legal@shukrapp.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Your notice must include your name, email address, and a clear statement that you wish to opt out of the arbitration agreement.
If you opt out, all other terms of this agreement will still apply, but disputes will be resolved in court.
10.5 Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois in the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
If arbitration does not apply, you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Wheaton, IL for resolution of any disputes.
11. Termination
11.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by:
- Deleting your account through app settings
- Contacting support@shukrapp.com
Upon termination, your access to the Services will cease immediately, and your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
11.2 Termination by ShukrApp
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including:
- Violation of these Terms
- Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
- Prolonged inactivity
- At our sole discretion
11.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Services ceases immediately
- All licenses granted to you terminate
- You remain liable for any obligations incurred before termination
- Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution)
12. Miscellaneous Provisions
12.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ShukrApp regarding the Services and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
12.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect, and the invalid provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
12.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.
12.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
12.5 Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, war, terrorism, pandemics, government actions, or internet service failures.
12.6 No Third-Party Beneficiaries
These Terms do not create any third-party beneficiary rights.
12.7 Export Controls
You agree to comply with all applicable export and import laws and regulations. You may not use the Services if you are located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country.
12.8 App Store Terms
If you access ShukrApp through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you agree to comply with the applicable app store terms of service.
Apple App Store:
- These Terms are between you and ShukrApp, not Apple
- Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance
- Apple is not responsible for the app or content
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to U.S. embargo
Google Play Store:
- These Terms are between you and ShukrApp, not Google
- Google has no obligation or liability regarding the Services
